Yasmin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Boston University. Before she joined Justine Sherman & Associates in September 2008, Yasmin worked alongside Physical and Occupational Therapists in a Pediatric Outpatient Clinic in Massachusetts. Yasmin has training in Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes programs, Floortime, Applied Behavioral Analysis, PROMPT (Introduction to PROMPT: Technique and Bridging PROMPT Technique to Intervention) and Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders. She currently specializes in treating Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and is CASANA (Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America) Recognized for Advanced Training & Clinical Expertise in Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Yasmin loves working with families to help children communicate to their greatest potential.
Alicia received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and her Master of Arts degree in communication sciences and disorders from Northwestern University. She holds the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and the State of California license to practice speech pathology. She is also a member of the International Association of Orofacial Myologists, and is pursuing certification as an Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist. She has experience practicing in both the public school and private clinic settings. Her areas of specialty include: dysphagia/swallowing, voice therapy, articulation therapy, and tongue thrust therapy. Alicia also mentors the newly hired therapists and supervises students completing a clinical externship at our clinic. She loves what she does because of the significant impact even small changes in communication skills has on the lives of her clients and their families. Alicia has been with Justine Sherman & Associates, Inc. since August 2007.
Jillian has enjoyed working as the Office Manager of Justine Sherman & Associates, Inc. since June of 2006. In addition to her work in the office, she is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts degree in speech-language pathology from California State University, Los Angeles. Once completed, she looks forward to attending a graduate program to become a fully licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
Martha received her Bachelor of Arts degree in communicative disorders from California State University, Fullerton and Master of Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach. She holds the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and the State of California license to practice speech pathology. She has experience practicing in both the public school and private clinic settings, and specializes in school age language. Martha is a Hanen Trained Speech-Language Pathologist and has also been trained in Lindamood-Bell’s Visualizing and Verbalizing® Program. Martha has been with Justine Sherman & Associates, Inc. since April 2010.
Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communicative Disorders from San Diego State University in 2005, followed by a Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from California State University Northridge in 2011. In 2006 she worked as an intern at our facility under the supervision of Ms. Sherman. From 2006 -2011 she was employed with Villa Esperanza School where she worked with moderate to severe developmental disabilities, primarily Autism, as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant. She enthusiastically rejoined the JSA team as a Clinical Fellow upon completion of her Masters coursework. Lisa is passionate about helping clients find their voice, allowing them to communicate more effectively with others which make her a great fit with Justine Sherman & Associates, Inc.
Ted received his Bachelor of Arts degree in dramatic arts from University of California, Santa Barbara and his Master of Arts degree in speech-language pathology from California State University, Los Angeles. He holds the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology, the State of California license to practice speech pathology, the California Community College Credential and is a member of the National Stuttering Project. Ted specializes in disorders of voice and fluency. In addition to his work at Justine Sherman & Associates, Inc. since 1999, Ted is a professor of speech at Glendale Community College.
Maryon Matsuda is a professor emeritus in the Department of Communication Disorders at California State University, Los Angeles. She received her Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University in Communication Studies. She holds the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology, the State of California license to practice speech pathology and the life time Standard Teaching Credential with a Specialization in Elementary Teaching from the state of California. While at Cal State Los Angeles, she taught courses in normal language acquisition, cultural/linguistic diversity in speech-language-hearing pathology, research and writing. She was also the coordinator and a supervisor for directed teaching.Topics she has covered in her publications, miniseminars, papers, and workshops include: communication skills of blind children, storytelling and classroom discrimination, communication strategies for working with Asian parents, communication intervention with Down's Syndrome infants and toddlers, pragmatic skills of Hispanic children, a model for training bilingual paraprofessionals, and using puppetry in speech-language intervention. Maryon has been with Justine Sherman & Associates, Inc. since August 2003.
Kim received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Long Beach in 1998, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Education from Claremont Graduate University in 2001 and then a Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University in 2011 where she was named Outstanding Distance Student of the Year for 2010-2011. In addition to working at JSA in multiple roles since 2004, she works as a Speech Language Pathologist with the Ontario-Montclair School District caring for students with moderate to severe developmental disabilities, including Autism, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. Kim has been trained in Stanley Greenspan’s Floortime™ approach, Lindamood-Bell’s On Cloud Nine® program and is certified as an Orofacial Myologist by the International Association of Orofacial Myology. She enjoys working closely with her clients and their families to facilitate optimal speech and language development.
Tara received her Bachelor of Arts degree in communicative disorders from Indiana University and Master of Science degree from University of Hawaii. She holds the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and the State of California license to practice speech pathology. She has worked in school, hospital and clinic settings. Tara specializes in orofacial myofunctional therapy. She has been with Justine Sherman & Associates, Inc. since September 2005.
Jasmine received her Bachelor of Arts degree in linguistics from the University of California, Los Angeles and her Master of Arts degree in speech-language pathology from California State University, Long Beach. She holds the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology and the State of California license to practice speech pathology. She has experience practicing in the public school setting. Jasmine has been trained in Picture Exchange Communication system (PEC’s), Lindamood Bell’s Visualizing & Verbalizing and has experience with Pamela Marshalla’s Remediation of /R/, Frontal & Lateral Lisps.
Jenny received a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a minor in Education from UCLA. She then earned her Multiple-Subject teaching credential and Masters Degree in Teaching/Education from Azusa PacificUniversity. She has 5 years primary grade teaching experience in the public school system which makes her uniquely qualified to understand and address the specific academic standards that the state of California requires. Jenny has also received additional training for working with Dyslexic students and has trained in the Lindamood Bell learning programs. Jenny feels most fulfilled as an educator by witnessing the accelerated accomplishments of her students working on individualized and focused goals.
Margaret is a licensed Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in the state of California. She earned her Speech-Language Pathology Assistant degree from Pasadena City College in 2009 where she received the Katie Peters Scholarship award for “Outstanding Clinical Service in a Fieldwork Setting in Autism”. In addition, Margaret has a background in Applied Behavior Analysis and while working as a Behavior Instructor with the autism population, she was trained in DTT (Discrete Trial Training) and VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestone Assessment Placement Program). She loves working with children and a diverse population. Margaret has been with Justine Sherman & Associates, Inc. since March 2011.
Mary is a licensed Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in the state of California who started with JSA in 2011. She earned her Speech-Language Pathology Assistant degree in June of 2011 from Pasadena City College and has gained valuable experience working with children of all ages, in clinic, home and school settings. She looks forward to continuing her education and earning her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Communication Disorders. Mary has a passion for helping children communicate with the world around them.
Over the past 16 years Laura has enjoyed working with children of all ages, including those with special needs, through her state-licensed child care facility. She has hands on experience with outdoor and indoor play, including Floortime™. Laura has completed the Early Childhood Education State Permit Program and has received certification in Preschool Teacher Childhood Education through Pacific Oaks College. Additionally she has completed Modules I-IV of the Program for Infant/ Toddler Caregivers curriculum through WestEd College and has received child care training from U.C. Davis Extension, Options Child Care Services and Special Needs Advisory Project (SNAP). She is also Infant/Adult C.P.R. and Health and Safety Trained. Laura joined the JSA Team in February, 2011.
